As a serious whitetail hunter, there has been a handful of ranches I have wanted to hunt on: King Ranch in Texas (still on the list), 76 Ranch in Texas (hunted more times than I can count), Sanctuary in Michigan (still on the list), Flint Oak in Kansas (been there and yes they do more than bird hunting there) and Timberghost in Iowa. I am sure a lot of my friends will argue with me over the list, but these are some on my personal list. The American Outdoorsman had been working with the owners of Timberghost over the last year or so as we bought the Mothwing Camouflage Company from them. Mike Hines (Ranch Manager) and Steve Fox (Ranch Owner) were wonderful to work with on the Mothwing deal and were gracious enough to invite me to Timberghost to hunt with them.
As soon as I drove in the gate I knew this place was special. The facilities are second to none as is the staff. They have a collection of whitetail mounts in the lodge that would make Bass Pro or Cabelas salivate. They have their main fenced Preserve, plus thousands of acres of nearby cropland to hunt on. This year they started a new program called the Adventure Hunt that is designed for the serious bow hunter that wants a real opportunity at world class bucks. To promote this new hunt, Mike invited myself and Kevin Gross from Hunting with the Pros to come up and hunt and film during the pre-rut.
